Our New Artwork

Chris and I were at an art show last month. It was put on for a man from our faith community who is an extremely talented artist, husband, and father who is dying of brain cancer.  We didn't go with the purpose of buying but when we saw these pieces we couldn't resist. They are from a collection titled: Restless Slumber. We had fun picking out the matting and frames.

No Time to Sleep

I was especially drawn to the "No Time To Sleep". It reminds me of the street where I walk to work. It doesn't have the graffiti, but in the summer there are often people taking a rest on the bench outside my work. There are corners used for latrines and hungry people lining up for a free breakfast and a hot cup of coffee outside the soup kitchen after a sleepless night on the streets.  Some summer days homeless people sniff from a bag in their hand and lay down to sleep it off in an empty parking lot. 

The art work is a reminder to me even in my own home not just of the many blessing I have but also of the many needs of others.
